In one area near downtown Oklahoma City and Bricktown, developer Grant Humphreys took a blighted no-man’s-land and built his dream.

The Deep Deuce area holds a special place in Oklahoma City history, and after decades of neglect became the site of the Deep Deuce at Bricktown apartments to bring prospective urban dwellers downtown.

But just north of the apartments a lot with a dilapidated home sat next to Interstate 235.

Humphreys began to make plans for the site and in June 2005 received the redevelopment contract for the site from the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority. At that time, plans called for 30 units.

The site included about 87,000 square feet of blocks 42 and 43 in the Maywood addition. It sits just north of Northeast Fourth Street.
